rePodder™ was born when my love of convenient Nespresso® coffee collided with my love of nature. After I had tried the 'collect & return' option Nespresso provides, it became apparent it wasn't convenient in my lifestyle (plus, I didn't enjoy the smell or little flies that buzzed around the spent coffee capsules, as they piled up and grew mouldy).

So I searched far and wide (and for a substantial amount of time) to find a solution that not only helped me process the capsules at home, but one that also could 100% guarantee the aluminium capsules would make it to the recycling plant. To my astonishment, I found ZERO solutions that addressed the issue of complete sustainability.

So I put my entrepreneurial brain to work, spending countless hours looking at the problem from many angles. I needed to find a solution that would exactly solve my problem. The added bonus of inventing the solution, was realising it provided a massive reduction of carbon footprint in comparison to the current 'collect & return' options. NO greenwashing here - YAY!!!

The adventure has taken over 4 years, and a great deal of my own funding (because I believe in it so passionately). The journey has given me a wealth of knowledge about the household waste stream, plus I've grown a healthy respect for the existing waste infrastructure and the dedicated men and women who make it possible for me to walk 10m to my home bin and toss into my kerbside recycle bin - now KNOWING how everything gets sorted, processed and recycled.

From the day I received the first amazing prototype, I have NOT tossed a single aluminium coffee capsule in the trash! ALL of them have been processed and recycled - 100% sustainably disposed! Plus, my garden is flourishing from the scattered coffee grinds.

So when I enjoy my cup of Nespresso-compatible coffee today – I do it 100% guilt-free!!
